About JCA
Background

The Johnsonville Community Association was formed in October 2012 to represent all residents of Johnsonville and Raroa, and has four main purposes to:
-
work to maintain and improve safe, affordable and reliable public services for all residents
-
protect the environment through community planting days to plant native trees in designated areas
-
work with the Council to enhance recreation facilities needed due to increasingly intensive housing
-
connect residents to enhance community well-being, appreciation of our cultural diversity and sharing of resources
10 Year Community Strategy
JCA carried out an independent survey of residents in 2014. The aim was to effective and honestly represent the residents of Johnsonville. So we sought to identify the 20 most important community issues for residents over the next decade, and to establish a strategy to tackle them.

The survey identified 20 major issues in four main categories of Built Environment, Services, Recreation & Culture, and Strategic Issues, with an even split of five issues per category. JCA's Johnsonville Community Strategy 2014-2023, published in 2014, outlines how we intend to champion the twenty projects.
Meetings
Meetings are a great place to meet locals attempting to improve Johnsonville, and the best place to find out what is 'really" going on with various local issues. We often have one or more WCC Northern Ward councillors in attendance, and occasionally Mayor Justin Lester (a local) will drop in. WCC liaison staff or officials attend as required.
JCA meets at 7.30pm on the last Wednesday of each month in the Johnsonville Community Centre, Frankmoore St.

ALL MEMBERS of the Johnsonville community - residents, business owners, clubs, societies - are automatically deemed ordinary members of Johnsonville Community Association, entitled to attend and participate. Any ordinary member may pay a subscription of one gold coin and thereby acquire the right to vote at any meeting. Please email us for a copy of the upcoming agenda, or to get on the mailing list.
